Catching Up, Part One: Milky Way

Posted in Hello!Project, J-Pop, Kikkawa Yuu, Kusumi Koharu, Milky Way, Music, Sayaka Kitahara at 8:47 pm by aiwish472

After giving all my attention in the past few weeks to studying, the 2008 election, family visiting from out-of-town, more studying, and – okay, I’ll be honest – more old movie stuff, I’ve had some time to catch up on music. I found some mp3s of the tracks on Kirarin Revolution Song Selection 4 and Berryz Koubou’s new album, 5 (FIVE). I also checked out the new Morning Musume PV and song, and realized that Milky Way’s next single is only a month away from being released.

Since there’s so much I’ve missed, I’ll be splitting this entry up into multiple pieces. I’ll begin with one of my favorite groups…

A look back at…the 2001 fanclub singles.

Posted in Hello!Project, J-Pop, Morning Musume, Music at 10:49 pm by aiwish472

In 2001, the Hello!Project fanclub released 10 singles, known as the “fanclub singles.” What a lovely title for them. Each Morning Musume member had their own special solo single, containing one song and a message from the member. The singles get their titles from the members’ names, with each song title taking a few sounds from the particular member’s name. Apart from that, I don’t know very much about these. What I do know is that most of these singles are really good, and so I’ll be reviewing them today.

Survey, yay: Bikkuri Project Version

Posted in J-Pop, Uncategorized at 5:33 pm by aiwish472

1. You have found a magical J-pop genie who will grant you one J-pop related wish (so no wishing for a million dollars or world peace or anything like that). It can be virtually anything as long as it’s directly related to J-pop, and don’t worry, because this is the nice sort of genie, not the kind who will try to find a loop-hole and screw up your wish. So, what do you wish for???

I meet Sayaka Kitahara, Yurina Kumai, and Maasa Sudou. We’re close in age, Sayaka is my favorite Egg, and Yuri’s my favorite Hello! Project Kid, with Maa at a close second. I hope we’d be good friends!

2. Is there any J-pop artist or group who seriously pisses you off? If yes, who, and why?

KUSUMI KOHARU. (Aren’t you surprised.) BEEEH. I hate her voice, her personality, her voice, her face, her voice, everything about her.

3. Who do you think is the sexiest japanese singer out there?

Kamenashi Kazuya. ❤ He’s so amazingly sexy. I also think Akanishi Jin and Taguchi Junnosuke are hot.

[This question never said pick one. Ha!]

4. How about the cutest?

Probably Junno. But Jin can be cute when he wants, too. (Bakanishi, anyone?) Masuda Takahisa fron NEWS has an adorable face as well.

5. Best personality?

The Queen of Hello!Project, Yuko Nakazawa!

Or Yaguchi Mari. Mari can be whatever she wants, when she wants…mature, cute, funny, silly…we’ve seen it all from Yaguchan.

6. If given the opportunity, would you rather date person 3, person 4, or person 5?

The ones in #5 are out of the question. I’d date Kame from #3. (And then marry him.)

7. You work for a Japanese music magazine, and you have the opportunity to interview your favorite artist or group. What are a couple of the questions you want to ask them?

I would ask personal questions so we can know more about the artists. What kinds of personal questions, I don’t know, but nothing too deep. I wouldn’t ask the same-old, “What foods and colors do you like?” or “How do you feel about the new release?” sorts of questions.

8. What’s the best (J-pop) song to listen to when you are really sad?

Ganbare! by AKB48 and Namida no Hoshi by Maki Goto. Most of the sad songs I like are Korean or Chinese, so I suppose I can’t mention them here. =/

9. When you’re really happy?

The Peace! by Morning Musume, Tadaima Renaichuu by AKB48, and Doki Doki Love Mail by Aya Matsuura. There are probably a lot in addition to that, but those come to mind first.

10. Do you often sing along to your favorite songs?

I used to sing along rather often, but now I don’t sing along that much. I usually only sing when I’m in a very good mood.

11. How about dance?

I never dance…XD

12. Artistic integrity question!! If someone offerrered to pay you for blogging, but they were allowed to censor some of your opinions or veto some of your blogging ideas, would you do it?

Unless they were going to pay me a ridiculously high sum of money, no. One of the best parts about blogging is voicing one’s opinions, especially when they’re new or controversial. 😉

The following is a whole bunch of thoughts. Or just random things that I wanted to mention. 😄 Some are serious, some are silly. Some are Hello!Project related, others are not. The links don’t always appear blue for some reason, so hover your mouse a bit. Have fun.

HAY GUYZ GUESS WHAT I HEARD!

Posted in Hello!Project, Hello!Project Kids, High-King, J-Pop, Lauren Bacall, Music at 10:12 pm by aiwish472

High-King’s PV for Cinderella Complex is here! And it’s ool. So watch it. I’m going to screencap it later and write about how much I love that song, Saki’s pretty voice, how great Ai and Reina look, the debut of cute Egg Yuuka, and Maimi’s overall awesomeness. So expect a post tomorrow. =P

In the meantime…what to say…what will make this post spiffy….

Ah, here we go. Now I can finish that sentence. In the meantime, Lauren Bacall is amazing! So be distracted by this picture. 😄 (Oh, how I love my idols.)

I’m so excited today, in case you couldn’t tell. I even wrote two blog entries. Summer began yesterday after much waiting! Yay~

…Hey, this post is 121 words. 121 is 11 squared. 😄

音楽♪青春

Posted in Aya Matsuura, Hello!Project, J-Pop, Maki Goto, Morning Musume, Music at 2:07 pm by aiwish472

After reading the “My Journey” series at Renai Project (which was very well written, might I add 😉 ), I decided that I would like to write of my own “Journey”.

Morning Musume and Hello!Project…means a lot to me. Not only is it my favorite music, it’s a source of happiness, it’s something to cheer me up, and it’s an obsession. Go ahead, call me wota. 😄

How did I get to this point? What did I love before Morning Musume?

It all started when I was little…

Realistic Heartbreak

Hello!Project would never work in America.

That sentence may have just crushed your little wota hearts, but it’s reality.

The “Good Things That Came Out of 2007” List

Posted in °C-ute, Chocolove, Hello!Project, Hello!Project Kids, Hitomi Yoshizawa, J-Pop, Junjun, KAT-TUN, Koda Kumi, Linlin, m-flo, Miki Fujimoto, Morning Musume, NEWS, Risa Niigaki, Tsuji Nozomi, YUI, Yuko Nakazawa at 12:19 am by aiwish472

1. Mikan – Morning Musume
Since it came out, Mikan has been one of my favorite Morning Musume songs. It’s catchy, fun, inspiring (you’ll get a chance!), and has a great PV. Everybody sounds great – new members, old members, the ones with strong voices, even the ones who need to work on their singing.

2. Tokaikko Junjou – C-ute

If it weren’t for this song, I would have never gotten into C-ute.

3. Yuko Nakazawa – Danna Sama

YUUKO’S ALIVE!!! I didn’t really care for this single, but it tells me that Yuko’s doing something. And I like it when cool members are doing things. ^^

4. Graduation of Hitomi Yoshizawa, Miki Fujimoto Friday’d

Shokku.

As much as I hate to see them go (especially Yossie), Mikitty and Yossie wouldn’t really fit with Morning Musume’s new style. I couldn’t picture Yossie in a furry chicken outfit for the second time (See: Onna ni Sachi Are PV and compare to The Peace), nor Miki hugging/eating cake/being happy on an album cover like Mikan’s. I think Yocchan is much better off participating in activities like Ongaku Gatas.

As for Miki…she never really seemed to like being in the group, anyways. =P (Maybe she should get her solo career back, she seemed to like that. But that’s another post…)

5. Junjun and Linlin. I love those two. They fit in great with Morning Musume, are very cute, and have so much talent. Forget about expansion – these two alone are great. I can’t wait to see them in 2008, and all the years to come.

6. Risa Niigaki becoming Sub-leader. I think Risa has a lot of potential as leader. She seems to really enjoy her work, and gets along with all the other members. Way to go Gaki. 😀

7. Morning Musume Tanjou 10 Nen Kinentai. This was a wonderful way to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Morning Musume/Hello!Project. All the members have a special place in the group that marks something big that happened in Hello Project history – Nacchi is the beginning, Kaori is leadership, Maki is the miracle, Risa is a magical gokkie, and Koharu is the not other miracle. 10 Nen Kinentai released some great music, too.

8. Tsuji and her baby! What more do I need to say? I am so happy for Nono.

9. Koda Kumi – Freaky. I like this song a lot. I also heard that Kuu is/was using this song in an anti-bullying campaign. That’s good to hear. ^^

10. NEWS – weeek. (Tokaikko Junjou #2) If it weren’t for this song, I would have never gotten into NEWS. I downloaded their touch album and a couple other singles, but nothing did it for me. Until this. So…now I like NEWS. =D

11. Cartoon KAT-TUN II You – KAT-TUN’s second album. I love how every member [except Jin-kun…=(] got their own solo song. Junnosuke’s, SAMURAI☆LOVE☆ATTACK, is best. ❤

12. YUI – CAN’T BUY MY LOVE album. Another wonderful release from YUI!

13. m-flo – COSMICOLOR. This has been my favorite m-flo album to date. There are some songs that I don’t really listen to that often, but nothing that I hate. The best songs on the album are Love Don’t Cry (loves Crystal Kay), Luvotomy (loves Namie Amuro), Picture Perfect Love (loves MONKEY MAJIK), and She Loves The Cream (loves DOPING PANDA).

14. Chocolove from AKB48. I love the people in this group (especially Akimoto Sayaka) and their songs (especially Ashita wa Ashita no Kimi ga Umareru). This group is sweeter than chocolate!

~

That’s the best of the best from 2007.

A hate post NOT about Ai Takahashi.

Posted in Hello!Project, J-Pop at 5:29 pm by aiwish472

Wow…there have been a lot of posts about Ai Takahashi lately. Some love her for her talent, others dislike her for her many lines. Although she isn’t my #1, Ai isn’t my least favorite member.

This post is all about who is.
