Blogging About Blogging

Posted in Blog, Uncategorized at 11:38 pm by aiwish472

I don’t quite know how to start this entry. There’s a lot of things I want to say, but they’re all jumbled up in my head and I don’t know how to set them up. I’ll give it a try: I’ve been thinking about this blog lately. Not just it, but you. You, as in, the readers of this blog. I feel like ever since I wrote that post about a declining interest in Hello! Project, my readership has just vanished. I’ve still gotten a few comments since the day I wrote that post, but the amount of activity I’ve gotten in July isn’t anywhere near the amount that this blog got in June.

My intent of writing this is not to sound selfish. I don’t write for readership — entirely. In a way, I do. I like to express my opinions, and then discuss the topic with others. That’s why I reply to comments when necessary. So to everyone who has commented, recently or ever, thank you. It’s appreciated very much.

I think that the lack of activity is in large part due to International Wota. No, no, I’m not trying to sound harsh or mean or superior, I merely want to understand something. The “桜の花びらたちが はらはら” post, also known as the one about losing interest in H!P, was the last one that was covered there, and it was on June 29. Has this blog been ignored because my interest in Hello!Project is dwindling? Is it because I write about things other than Japanese music? So only two of the entries this month have been J-Pop related. I like something more than J-Music now. That still doesn’t seem like a reason to ignore my writing.  I don’t expect you to mention all of my posts, that’s silly. If they’re not written well enough, okay, I’ll until next time. If they’re not related to Asian music, I don’t expect them to be covered in the least, and that goes without saying. But…what about the things I did write that related to Asian music?

Any other reason?

If I must, let this be the fork in the road. I’m hesitant to do so, but I suppose I could create two new blogs: One for music, one for classic stuff. Is that what it will take? I was hoping that this blog would see its first “birthday,” especially since September 15 is the day before another, more important, special birthday, but…

Please explain, someone… :(

The Thin Man

Posted in Asta, Classic Film, Myrna Loy, Review, William Powell at 3:07 am by aiwish472

I was a fan of The Thin Man before I even watched it. It was all because of Asta, the little terrier who you’ll fall in love with at first glance. Promotional pictures featuring him are just too cute. I don’t remember where I first saw or heard of Asta…it wasn’t in Bringing Up Baby, which was the first movie I saw that featured Asta. Regardless, I saw him somewhere, and looked around for more information. I came across an Asta fansite. When the site wasn’t talking about Asta, it was mentioning three things: The Thin Man, William Powell, and Myrna Loy.

Although I had become a fan of Asta quickly, I didn’t bother to find out anything about The Thin Man right away. Why I didn’t is beyond me…I was beginning to become a fan of Loy, too. I finally watched the movie after a joke about terriers and Asta at dinner one night, and I am so glad that I did.

Chatoyancy: A New Blog by Aiwish472

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:57 pm by aiwish472

I have a new blog! It’s very different from this one in the manner that it’s for my graphic work. I will not be closing or pausing activity at Amasugita Kajitsu. This one will remain here for actual writing… like I said, the other is for graphics only. Please stop by at falltherain.wordpress.com . Thank you very much! :D

Why I Love Gocchin

Posted in Hello!Project, Maki Goto at 10:19 pm by aiwish472

To be quite honest, I don’t know.

There’s just something about her as a Maki as a singer and a person that makes her wonderful. She revolutionized Morning Musume when she joined at 13 in 1999, adding a sort of youthfulness that the other members didn’t have. Sales shot up when she joined, and slowly began to take a turn for the worst when she left. She’s not sickeningly sweet, but the thought of Maki being mean never crosses my mind, either. Her face isn’t perfect; she has a wider nose than most. She’s good, but she’s not an amazing singer… while some are much better than others, no member of Hello! Project truly is.

She puts on a show, but it’s not extravagant.

I think I like Maki because there’s an aura of realness about her, especially compared to other Hello! Project members. She’s not extreme anything. She’s one of the most neutral, boring members to join Morning Musume. But she’s a good singer, and that makes up for everything she lacks.

She could improve, but any known figure could. My goodnish, any person on this earth, you, me, famous or not, could improve themselves.

There is no reason to like her. She’s just Gocchin, and that’s fine with me.

Very Random Photos, Vol. 2

Posted in Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn at 5:34 pm by aiwish472

Since reading Wikipedia articles is fun (sometimes), I was there last night reading about the AFI’s “100 Years…” lists. For the top actor, they selected Humphrey Bogart, and for the top actress, Katharine Hepburn. I think that both of them were absolutely worthy of the #1 spot; both were very talented at their profession. So…picture time! :D

Scorning… Monkeys

Posted in AKB48, Berryz Koubou, Hello!Project, Music at 11:57 pm by aiwish472

From the first time I heard the radio rip, I knew the new Berryz song, “Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance,” would be bad. But my curiosity got the best of me, so when the PV came out, I had to watch it. I was pleasantly surprised to see and hear more Maasa, Chinami, and Saki (yet there’s still much more Risako than necessary, and not enough Yurina). Despite that, I don’t like the song or video.

“Yuke Yuke” is the most repetitive song I’ve heard from the Berryz. It’s the same verse and chorus over and over, until the bridge, which just comes out of nowhere. It’s a good song, really, if you want to annoy someone. The costumes are bad. They could be worse. Their fluffy skirts, long-sleeved shirts, black vests, and hats are so-so. And then there are the monkey costumes. Those officially ruined the video and song. The bodysuits with ears monkey costumes are a failed attempt to be cute; I don’t like them at all.

It’s not exactly “typical idol.” But it’s close.

Thankfully, there are those rare songs that aren’t typical idol.
